since we are not having any luck with the ice I was thinking of taking the boat on the lakes where I should be ice fishing. What can I expect? should it be about the same minus the ice.

thanks for any help

pretty much and you shouldn't walk around much, and don't put your shanty up. Tip-ups aren't really effective either as the travel time would be higher.

I fish with my ice rods over the side of the boat. waxies, and minnows. The bite is light. You should find some decent fishing as long as its not too windy (hard to see the bite and keep the boat still).

I devised a floating tip up system that works great for this time of year.

Get the boat out and enjoy the weather. It helps the winter pass by!

I agree Fishfoote, its hard to beat see'in that flag up.
I'll drive past a house and see those flags that mark the driveway out of the corner of my eye. For a split second, my mind triggers the "flag!!"
response.

I'm going thru withdrawls, when will it end?

They say in two weeks the temps will take a dive.

pretty much. go to a lake where you would normally be icefishing close to shore and breakout your warmwater gear. I did that last weekend and the gills were pretty much where they would be if there was ice. It's just not the same though.
