They will only save the money until the EPA and the USCG catch up with them. The estimated cost to clean this mess up is around 2 Million and that is not including the daily fines of $27,000.
Last I heard they were very close into finding out the source of the spill. I hope they get them soon.
The Canadian Shore line well South of Amherstburg was quite polluted as well. The clean up crews have been fueling their boats up a Duffy's Tavern. Seems like they are making headway on the clean up.

The ramps were almost done by noon, we fished both Trenton and Wyandotte and the further you went upstream you went the more oil you saw it's now turning into "peices" of stringy oil 2- 3inches long and floating down. Up stream you could smell it more and the "color streaks were more frequent. It has cleared up quite abit, with water temps between 46 & 50 degrees the fish were still not really knocking yet. Had to drive down to Trenton to get a fishing license? If it had not been for Bottom Line I proably would have had to drive home or wait for somebody to open. If anybody is counting on buying a license of any sort buy it at home unless your fishing near the metro park. I had my license, ran out of bait in a hurry ;)
