I havent been skunked on state land yet and I ususally shoot a darn nice bird every year. So this year my father wants to take a poke at a long beard with me and I look forward to it.;)

I just spoke to the DNR yesterday and they said that there are really good numbers of flocks in waterloo. I'll be out scouting this comming week looking for some more birds.

I just moved down here from the U.P. and can only hunt state land down here in the thumb now. How did everyone go about finding birds in state property? This will be my 2nd year turkey hunting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I hunted on state land near the waterloo recreation area when I first started turkey hunting. Now I go up North just to get away. I will probley be doing some calling for my buddy if he gets his tag in southern Michigan on my in-laws property. During muzzle loading season I counted 56 turkeys come down out of the roost, it was awesome.
Good Luck To All this Turkey Season,

Keep an eye on thre birds you see now on State Land.
They'll hang around.
As long as they have cover and food.

Yep, I do most of my hunting on public land. I do hunt a buddy's farm some, but that is mainly for the kids to have a spot to hunt without having to worry about others.
Good luck out there.
