I got the knife for Xmas and haven't had an opportunity to open it till tonight. To the people who use it, does your trigger need to be pushed with king kong like grip to make it work. I believe I have a faulty one. I thought it was broken until I really muscled the trigger. Thanks for the responses. :)

Is the knife your talking about cordless/rechargeable? I have the cordless one with 2 batteries and it has a small safety device in the middle of the trigger which you have to flip before you can squeeze the "trigger". If this is what your referring to it's normal but you may feel like your having to grip like crazy at first, you'll get the hang of it in short order once you use it.

The one I got, is corded, has plugs for the car, a battery and plugs into a household plug. It also came with two sets of blades. Looks like I'll have to return it to BassPro and get a new one. This particular one does not have the little device you are describing. Thanks for the replys.

From what i was told the knife with all of the adaptors like you have loses some power i was told to get the 112 volt knife that plugs directly in to the wall. It's a great knife and if you are only going to clean fish where there is a outlet like i do i highly recomend it. It's cheaper also so you'll have a little extra spending money.

I believe the rechargable one is 70 or 80 dollars but i've been told that batteries die very quickly.

I agree the case is terrible so i bought a contaner just big enough for the knife to fit in so that way you just stick the cord in any wich way.

I have the American Angler rechargable knife.......it sucks. I bought it new at Dicks two years ago for $50. You have to charge it up (at least 6 hours)until you're ready to use it. Then you only get about 5 solid minutes of runtime before it slows and dies on you.
I also find that once you unplug it from the charger, the charge diminishes quickly over a few hours if you don't use it.
Go with electric, I wish I did.

Ty for the feed back folks. Was wondering what do i do when blade dulls?I checked out rapala for replacement blades and no prices on them.Hate to find out that a blade cost me as much as the whole kit itself. Mich

With my Rapala Cordless I can clean 6-10 Salmon per battery. Panfish or Bass I've never ran a battery dead on em. Salmon I think take a bit more juice cause I cut right through bone on em & their bones are a bit more sturdy than inland lake catches. The case fits everything nicely and with 2 batteries it's all good.
