Just saw a report that a guy launching his 22' boat broke his prop off at the Jefferson boat launch just south of Crocker. He had full tilt up and still hit something that distroyed his prop.
I don,t no for sure but isn,t that the new marina launch they just opened last fall? I thought that they were going to drench that out. Guess I won,t launch out of there. It was his first time out and a new boat, what a shame!

I launched at the new DNR site at Crocker and Jefferson three times last November, never had a problem....but my rig is much smaller, only a 16 footer with a 40 horse. My depth finder showed 2.5 to 3 feet of water for at least 75 yards out from the ramps. I wonder if someone dumped something off the ramp during the winter?

I read the same thing Flyfisher. I can second the info. provided by Sea Duck. I launched there as late as Dec. 6th last year and never had a problem, 17.5 ft. boat. However, this report does not surprise me because there were very large tree limbs sticking out of the water in front of the Spillway.

When launching at this new ramp, one must be very careful to go straight out...the tendency is to continue to motor out but it is very easy to drift south on your way out. look back and you'll be amazed. I launched there half dozen times there last fall duck hunting. I almost dumped a passsenger out by backing out and then backing north in front of the hosue next door. thats about 12 inches of water, he almost fell right out when we struck the mudflat. they must have dredged a hole at the ramp. The submerged logs that we all saw last fall are now under 8 inches of rising water levels....go straight out!!!...andy
