Got a Moultree GameSpy camera for Xmas - the user manual was very very brief.

I have it on the factory default 'auto' settings now - one of the setting options is 'aim with infrared Yes/No.' Not focus - just aim. The default factory setting is 'No.' What does this do? How would you use it? Just curious before I try customer service.

Pretty lame instruction manual but everything else seems OK.

I have the game spy 100 and also wondered about that but what I have come up with is there is an infered laser on some models that allows you to aim the camera to a spot and know it's aimed correctly. The gs 100 has the ability to change that setting to on or off but it does not actually have the laser for aiming. I think i'm right but not 100%

Mine has the laser aiming device. It actually is pretty helpful when setting the camera up. I use it every time.

Mine has the laser aim as a manual switch and the IR aim as a setup menu option. I am just going to ignore it I guess.

If it actually shoots a laser out then use it, otherwise, just ignore that menu item. Which model is it by the way? mine is the gamespy 100 and it does not have the laser but does have the menu option.

The infrared sensor is behind the opaque disc below the LCD menu. If you select yes for "aim with infrared" leave the door to the camera open, and every time you walk in the way of the sensor the red light that blinks when the camera takes a picture will start blinking to let you know if you have the camera aimed right. Then, once you have the camera pointed where you think something will trip the sensor, set the camera to take pictures and close the door.

Excellent - thanks.
Would it kill Moultrie to go to a 2 page manual?

Played with the laser today and it works OK - better to have a large cardboard target vs. the palm of my hand!
