It was a coon.
It was a coon.
Yep a coon, and not too old. They actually get a crest on top of the scull when you get an old one.

Thanks guys! It seems to be in good shape except for a couple missing teeth. I am going to try and clean it up a bit and get it whiter. Any suggestions on how to best go about this?
Thanks!
Wrap it in cloth keep the cloth wet with Hydrogen peroxide. You might need to tuck cotton balls into recesses.

I think that's the skull from the "monster" TheGenericPictureMan saw when he mixed drugs and hunting. :yikes:
At that particular instant I found myself staring into the big, glowing yellow eyes of the of some hideous creature. The creature had huge fangs dripping with salvia. It looked kind of like a shaggy mountain lion, but it was walking upright like a man. Then it howled, and my skin nearly turned inside out in horror.

Yep coon. Have one i am cleaning up right now. Depends on what white you want. There are two ways to do it. Van dyke taxidermy supply has a paste that you can brush on then wash off. Or you could do it the poor mans way of putting it in a pot of Hydrogen peroxide water. Esox's way would work good also. just remember in the water there is a good chance the teeth will fall out. just get the elmers glue out and put them back in. just don't mix coyote teeth and a coon's. It turns into a fun puzzle.

Are you guys talking about that strong hydrogen peroxide you get from a beauty supply store or the regular stuff you can get at any drug store?

Use the stuff you get from the beauty salon cheaper and just as good:coolgleamYou just have to let it sit a little longer

Might want to hit the teeth with a drop of super glue or something. They will get loose as it dries out.

You can whitten it cheaply with bleach but be carfule because it can detteroate the bone if ya let it soak too long.
I use the cheap stuff from miejers. About a dollar a bottle. If you are going to soak it make sure to keep a eye on it. the peroxide will eat the bone.

Where do you buy 40 vol hyd?
I should be able to get Clairol base white at a beauty supply store.
I just finish a boiling a Bobcat, weasel, coon and skunk. My fox fell apart because I boiled it to long.
