I had to do it yesterday too. Fished from 2:00-4:00. Landed about 30 gills, but they all went back in. More to catch if we ever get ice:rant:

Mike, with all this warm weather maybe you should just start looking for mushrooms! I sure hope it turns cold soon!

this weekend we start the ice building process. DON'T WORRY IF THERE IS A DAY OF WARM TEMPS AND RAIN MID NEXT WEEK! that will be what is brought here from a strong low pressue system and the backside of this low brings NW winds and COLD! air down. This pattern is changing and i will bet there are people on the traditional walleye spots of sag bay by feb. 1st

Nice pix and congratulations on the catch. I spent a week off of work between Christmas and New years and caught loads of gills. 10 days fishing and ended up with 223 nice gills. All from a marina, sitting on a dock. Had some last night for dinner. Excellent. Guess that this will have to do until we get some ice. Put the vex back in the closet til then.

Good luck everybody. :corkysm55

Ice making this weekend ? I just looked at the weather.com for west Mich and the coldest high daytime temp they show is 35deg. and thats for the next 10 days! (Jan 13th) I know temps are bound to drop , but not until at least the 3rd week in January? WOW!
I figure we'll have a couple weeks of 3-4" of ice, but thats going to be it at best for over hear.
The days start to get longer now and in a couple of weeks, our average high starts to go back up.

Well, sunday anyways. I'm telling you, we start this weekend into early next week, take a day or two off for some warmer weather, and then the bottom is going to fall out. Mark my words.
