Anybody here scuba off the western piers in the spring? Wondering what kind of spoons and other gear could be found?
I just got certified and didn't want to bump into anybody's territory!
but....it's lots more dangerous than you might think. All that stuff is connected to MILES of mono that you cannot see (but certainly can feel!) while underwater.
I've done it before and would never attempt it again unless I was in a GROUP..not just with a partner.
Dont let the "I just got certified " excitement turn into a bad outing. Try retrieving golf balls.....less risky and better pay off !

I have done Whitehall......we collected about 400 stick baits between 5 of us. this was several years ago. I agree, was not the most enjoyable dive. You must be real comfortable in the water, have a top side spotter and carry good wire cutters and a knife. Also, wear thick gloves, those hooks are sharp.

Ever think about diving in the St. Clair River? Try around May early June and you will witness the huge amount of walleye that are in that river. You wouldn't believe me unless you seen it for yourself. Its wall to wall. If you can dive here, you can dive anywhere in the world.

I dive marysville, right by the boat launch off River Rd and there is tons of baits down there for the picking. Good current also. I think this sunday weather permitting we will be hitting it. We dive year around...Kinda crazy i know but thats what great lakes divers do.
