My dad wants me to ask this question.(kinda dumb).

He wants to know if there is any ice on the flood waters right now?

When I called the resort that we normally stay at (Sunday), they said there was some ice (none good) out for about 100 yards, then open water. We have had poor ice making conditions since then, so, likely no no ice at all - definitely no good ice.

We have rescheduled a trip for 2 weeks from tomorrow. Looks like it "might" get cold up there in a few days.

What resort are you staying at? Did they allow you to move your reservation date out due to a lack of safe ice? Just curious. I'm going up to the pond the last weekend of January and I'm trying to figure out if I should move the date or just hope and pray for ice! Thanks!

Sleepac , Jacks Landing requires 10 days notice to cancel or move reservations or you will lose your money:rant: , i strongly reccomend the Days inn in Alpena (very nice with indoor pool )& it is 15 minutes from the lake .

If that forecast is accurate, we could be looking at some ice up there by the weekend of the 20th. I will be in the Alpena area that weekend, and we are talking about a Floodwater ice fishing trip. My dad made a bet that we would have safe ice on the Flood by the 20th. Jack's Landing put thier boats back in last Thursday or Friday. My father runs a beverage distributor in Alpena, and he had to deliver out to Jack's, and they were telling him that.

That Wednesday the 17th forecast with low of 5. That will make 2-3 inches of ice that night! GAME ON! If that forecast stands.

there was ice 3 weeks ago but only lasted 2days then it went..fishing was good for crappies and a few pike on tip ups..
they are getting some perch right now in boats
