I am heading over to the Detroit River tomorrow I will probably head to the upper river due to the oil spill does anyone have any reports for the upper river around Peche Island any reports would be helpful Thanks!

Typically this time of year I will hit "The Cow Pasture" , "The Fountain" or "Canadian Club" on the Canadian side.
This will all depend on the water clarity of course.
On the American side you can try by the light tower at the head of Peche Island or down by the Ren Cen.
If you need minnows hit the bait store across from Peche Island on the Canadian side she is always happy to give a report.

Thanks guys. Hotwired I was planning on fishing the cow pasture and the sturgeon hole if the water was clear if not then give the light house a try thanks for the bait shop phone number I will try to give it a ring tonight. Has anyone else heard any reports for this area. I haven't fished there in over 7 years and it use to be pretty good this time of year for a chance at a wall hanger. Thanks!

hey guys,
my friends have been telling me Gar Wood is the place to be right now. The action is a little slower up there, im waiting for another week. The guys down there did say a few caught 4. Reports came in 2 days ago that jiggers were doing good, but with this change of water, i would say you would better be off handlining. Greatest Luck.

The morning fishing was slow on Saturday up around the Peche Island area. We only caught one small male. There was about 35 boats fishing around there and no one was catching very much. Be careful about bringing beer along with you because the (OPP) police were checking all the american boats. We saw one boat give up the the contents of their cooler to them. The OPP said that the most fish they saw on any boat was 5 fish with 4 guys fishing. We only fished until 4pm.
