this is the idea from MS member "bigbob" thread link below
http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=165872

So I went to the Dollar Tree and got some window alarms with Batteries included.

nice

So I taped one on to see if it would work, and it does. I'm going to wire-tie it on and fine tune it but the alarm is loud and I have a head-ache (maybe I should get some of the head on stuff - http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166294

Great idea with the window alarm I love it, I just watched your video as you fished and jigged for the cell phone cracked me up:lol:.. I thought it was your phone and I was like how and the heck did he drop his phone thru a ice fishing hole:dizzy:.. Did the phone ever power up?

looks good to me..I might have caught more fish if I would have done that....I thought everyone dropped a cell phone thru the hole seems they are ice hole magnets...

the phone did work but it would drop calls after a min. I guess if we would of let in dry-out and would of put it in a bag of rice for a few days it might have been totally fine. It was even funny-er watching it on the monitor fall under the water (i did not have the camcorder on for that part). Plus it did fall down the hole I was fishing.

my digital camera ended up at the bottom of the Saint Clair river one summer luckily it was only 4' deep at the dock but I had to let it sit for 30 days or more before I even tried to power her up..

It still works to this day with a few quirks to her but nothing better than a rap on the hand and she is back up and running again  Cya Slick

I'm a proud employe of dollar tree! Glad we could help. I too dropped my cell phone in the lake before i layed it on the air register for a couple days and it worked just fine.

that is about the only good thing about no ice yet - we have not lost anything down the hole yet.

I just spent $11.99 a piece at Sportsmans Wharehouse for the new Frabill artic sirens to put on my tip ups. I've got a few more that I want to rig up with some type of alarm and I will definatley be on the look out for these alarms. :fish2:

BTW- The frabill alarms work; even when it's -15f out. I tried them out last weekend and they worked like a charm.

Looks like a really cheap alternative to tip-up alarms already on the market. Some of those are really pricey!

Bob this is definately one of the coolest ideas someone has come up with. I picked a few up tonight and put one on a tip up. IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM! I've discovered one thing that might be helpful. Put the reciever on the shaft and hang the trigger on the flag stem as seen in the pics previously posted but, instead of having the arrow on the trigger lined up with the 2 lines on the reciever FLIP the trigger upside down so, the arrow is on the bottom. It gives room for a little more play. Also, if the trigger is set lower down the flag post (not much but just enough for clearance) then you will be able to swing the bottom up slightly which gives you the option of using it on either side of the tip up for sensitivity settings. I will post pics later to help explain what I mean. Thanks again Bob.

Man that suckers loud. Does the alarm stay on the t/u or can you keep it with you if you're in a shanty, or your pocket on a bucket?

If its that loud i dont think you would need/want it in your pocket!

no it stay`s on the tipup so it needs to be loud :)

At least being in your pocket, the noise wouldn't be as loud as it was in the video. I was just wondering if the noise maker was a remote unit, or it stayed on the T/U, and BigBob answered it for me. Thanks Bob
