Hey guys. I have seen a few posts, but nothing really firm.
As of Thursday, 5:00pm, are the Downriver launches closed?
Just trying to get a better handle on whats going on.

thanks!

People have been telling me that they have closed Elizabeth PArk. I dont know for sure though, what i do know for sure is the walleye are hitting really well upriver. Unfortunately, this had to happen. Yes it will be a bad thing, but it will not limit the walleye fishery at all upriver. Good Luck

It would be nice to get the real scoop from someone that was out today. Seems like the story changes depending on who you are talking to. Even the bait shops don't give out consistent information.

What is the real story??? Don't just want to take the boat for a long ride on the trailer. What ramps are open? Is anything biting?

I was out this morning. Went to Elizabeth park--closed. Stopped at the Trenton lighthouse and they said had to go to Wyndotte to launch, which we did. It was pretty full at 2pm when we left. Saw some oil residue along the rocks at Elizabeth park. We fished from the launch up to Great lakes steel. Not much sign of oil anywhere. Was a light sheen on the water at times. Did not leave scum line on the boat, I was surprised! Lots of boats out there today.

Thanks for the report on water conditions Walleye Mike. Did you have any luck catching fish? Will be making the trip from Grand Rapids in the morning. Unfortunately we can't postpone our trip - it's now or wait till next year.

Went for a boat ride last night. Here is the scoop!

Lake Erie Metro Park: Open
Elizabeth Park: Closed
Wyandotte: Open

The EPA and Marine Pollution Control are using Elizabeth Park as the "Headquarters" for the clean up of the South End of the River.
If you think that the river is cleaner on the Canadian Side your wrong. Clean up crews are working 24 hours shifts to get that side of the river cleaned up as well.
