LX3tc ?

recently bought one (won't have ice for a long time now!!!) and was playing around with the simulated program on it. Can't seem to make it work like the book describes.....here's my question, does the transducer need to be in the water for this simulation to work?

I take it that you held the zoom key in then turned it on?

Yes....I pressed the zoom key and turned the switch. You hear it beep and it splits the screen. I've tried depressing the zoom-turning it on and holding along with letting off the key as soon as it beeps. All I get are the 2 red lines splitting the screen (This is all out of water). I also tried filling the sink and sticking the transducer in the water just to see what it would do....looks like lots of interfence. I also played with the gain and didn't seem to help with the simulation. Read the book over and over....Am I doing something different?

does it work on yours?

water will give you a lot better reading.

It sounds like the zoom is on and the simulation mode isn't turning on. If you have a dock that is near you I would try and fish off the side just to see how it works. Remember to turn the gain up just until you can see your jig. If you can't get the simulation mode to work I would call Marcum on Tuesday.

I tried everything....I'll try calling them today and see what they say. Not that I need it to work, but it makes you wonder if everything else is working the way it should. I would just take it back and exchange it, but neither store has any in stock.

Have you been happy with your set up so far? any issues?

To any one else having LX3tc simulator problems....

This is what I got from Marcum. For what its worth, they replied soon after I sent the email.


"We are sorry for the confusion on this but some of our LX-3TC will not have
the simulator mode. Trying to always improve on quality, we did a
production run of these units with a new board that did not have a
simulation option. I would guess that your unit was under this run. We
have been very happy with the board switch and have been incorporating them
in on all of our units. Unfortunately the manuals on the LX-3TC we not
changed to reflect the simulator not being available. Once again we
apologize for any confusion this may have caused."

Subject: LX3tc problem

To whom it may concern:

I recently bought an LX3 and have been trying to get the simulator function
to work on it. I have followed the instructions multiple times and get the
same results.
I hold down the zoom key, turn the unit on( it beeps) and comes up to the
split screen. I have also pressed zoom and turned on and let of the zoom as
soon as I turn it on. Both methods yield no simulation. I have unhooked the
cables and recycled power as well, but get the same thing. I have tried it
in water as well as out.

Its a brand new unit that has never been fished with.
Am I missing something?

Well, I guess it isn't broke. That's good news. You will have it on ice real soon. You can always hang it over the side of a dock. Done that before.
