I do a lot of rabbit hunting, on the weekends. The DNR just opened feral pig hunting in Clinton and Shiawasee counties until March 31 st. My question is, any chance I may see some pigs running beagles, and if so will a 20 gauge slug kill them. Obviously 20 gauge 4 shot isn't going to do, if I carry a few slugs will it make a kill, or just piss them off?

Yes a 20ga slug will drop a pig in his tracks. On some of the WMA's down here the only time we can hunt them is during small game season. I have even killed a few with a well placed shot w/22LR I would'nt recomend it though.

You may not want to have slugs in possesion out of deer season.

Not sure why not. You can carry and use a rifle, in any part of the state, for pigs.

I carry slugs while quail hunting, just in case I see a pig. A slug will gauranteed dump a pig in its tracks.
