Tried to get an answer on the ice forum, but got no response. Am I going to get in trouble if I take my christmas tree for a ride in the boat and tie a few bricks to it and sink it in a local lake where I can find it again w/ the gps. I'm thinking about a sand flat about 8ft deep next to the drop off. I know guys do this, but is it done "during low light conditions" or what??:help:

Get a permit from the DNR and you won't get in trouble.

WHEN we use to get ICE on lake Erie some one would make a trail using Christmas trees from Port Clinton Ohio to the Erie Islands no one ever took them off the Ice

that doesn't make it legal:lol: Those are usually used to mark safe trails along the ice. I would think the biggest concern would be mad homeowners.

I've heard of people doing this with a bale of hay, which when it starts to decay, starts its own little food chain or ecosystem.
