I need some help!!

I'll be going to South Africa for the first time in April and want to take my handgun. I've been told by the outfitter that I need a letter certifying it as a hunting handgun. I have never heard of this before and have no idea as to where to get this done. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about handguns, but I do know you can't have a semi-auto there. Had a friend have one taken away while we were there. He was able to pick it up at the airport when we left, but was unable to use it there. He used my bolt action 300 weatherby. I don't know where you can get a letter for the handgun, gunsmith maybe. Good luck, South Africa is fabulous.

be careful!!my old boss used to go every year and the area they were in was a no gun zone.
