I am holding a rabbit tournament on January 6 in St. Johns. The rules are as follows: Come sign in between 8 and 9 am, go hunt where ever you want, with or with out dogs. The hunt lasts for six hours and you must be back within 1/2 hour of the specified deadline or else disqualified. Teams are four people or less, and it costs $6 per person. The winner is decided by number of rabbits, if a tie happens the wieght of the rabbits will determine the winner. Coffee and Dounuts will be provided at sign in, and a chili lunch will be provided after the hunt. All Michigan state game laws apply. For more info or directions feel free to pm me I can also give you my cell phone number if needed.
Prizes: First-$100,Second-$50, Biggest Rabbit-$25. Last year there wer 13 teams and we were able to pay out third place. It is more beneficial to have teams of four but it depends on how well the other teams do. We have been doing it for 5 years and twice we have had teams come back with 20 rabbits.
The address is 5445 W Taft Rd between Grove and Lowell Rd. If you need more info give me a call at 1-989-666-1631. Hope to see a few of you there.

A couple questions:
Is this the first time you've had this tournament? If not, how many people usually show up for it?
What does the winner receive?
Do you take into consideration the number of people on each team when it comes to the number of rabbits they bring back? Meaning a group of 3 people can only bring back 15 rabbits where a group of 4 people can bring back 20. (then it would be in your best interest to have 4 people on your team)
Thanks!

I have been involved in this tournament for 4 of the past 5 years. This is a hunt that I look forward to every year. Always a good turnout. Diehard has chili ready and waiting when everyone gets back. Its set up really well. Take your rabbits to have them counted and weighed, sit back relax and eat as you wait for everyone to arrive back from the field. Not sure the address but I know its in St. Johns. Diehard will you post the address? See ya there

Maybe you could post what you think the true reason for hunting is? I think you will find that everyone had a different true reason to why they hunt or fish.
Do so in another thread..........NOT THIS ONE!

It went great, besides the crappy weather. We had 9 teams show up, with a total of 84 rabbits taken. The winning team limited out and also won the biggest rabbit and walked away with $130, second place got 18 rabbits, and third got 16.

did everyone get the email about the guy giving you crap about holding a rabbit contest ...good grief anti's are going to always find somthing to try and use as ammo as long as the game that was taken was cleaned and eaten who cares is you have a contest over it it think its awsome that a group of good guys/gals can get together and just have fun and what is hunting about: taking game, repsect the game that you take and, eat what you take or make sure that it will be eaten. The same thing applies to the trophy bucks hangin on the wall if this guy feels the way that he feels then he better not have an animal haning on the wall....tree huggers in disguise.
Any hoo I'm glad to hear thatyou all had fun sorry I couldn't be there I really wanted to be so good hunting in the future guys
