Yesterday I went out to do some shore fishing near Sanibel Island. Bought some shrimp and began to set up a couple of rods. I had a heck of time getting two rods set up, as the trout wouldn't leave the first one alone. Finally after getting both rods in the water, I had another hit on the first rod. This fish really took the rod down, like a steelhead that hits the surf rod hard. I set the hook and the fight was on, after a few minutes, I reeled in half a trout, yep the other half was down the gullet of what was probably a smaller shark, although I didn't see what hit it. It must have hit it when the rod laid down flat, too bad I couldn't hook the thief, but then again maybe I didn't want to bring the thing in, never had that happen off the beach in Michigan. This trout started out to be probably around 18" or so, but was reduced to about 10". Made a nice meal for the tri colored heron hanging around.

Could have been a Barracuda also. Can't beat that Florida fishing.

Yeah could have been, it happened so quick. It looked just you took a fillet knife and cut it in half.

Love surf fishing in Florida you never know what is on the other end. We catch a lot of bonnet head shark north of you at Casey Key.

I've never caught one of those, but they are pretty cool looking. Wouldn't mind having one on the wall.
