Within the canal system at the end of Alter road along the Grosse pointe park and detroit border and in the greyhaven canal we saw the following birds yesterday:
2 green herons
1 black crowned night heron
1 pair wood ducks
1 pair Scuap(bluebills)
1 Belted Kingfisher
Heard two cock pheasants
Buffleheads and Mergnasers still on the river. Cans along the GP shoreline. Its great to see someone using these parks and open space. The Angel Park(now lakewood east) canal is growing a nice riparian wetland along its banks along the back side of the park. This is where we saw the Herons and the woodies.
Does anyone know if the large nest in the cottonwood on the US side of Peche Island is being used by creatures???
