I have Garmin ETrex, the yellow one, and cannot figure out how to track myself. I can get it to give me an arrow to point in the direciton but I want to be able to see my tracks so I can know know when to turn and not just as the crow flies. Can anyone help me with this?

Your eTrex has 2 options for following your tracks back.
1) If you follow the menu and choose the "track back" option you will be taken to the pointer page (looks like a compass, but remember it is not....only shows north when you are moving). This option will show the pointer taking you in a straight line to the starting point OR the first position on your way back where you made a turn (track back changes your original track into a series of straight-line waypoints). I believe you will still track back if you go to the map pages (where you will see all of these points and you can follow option #2). From your post I will assume this is not the way you want to do it so...........
2) when you start out MARK the starting point as a waypoint (number 1 option. Go to the map page and it will show your marked waypoint and a trail (grey I believe) will show up on the screen showing your track. When you get done and want to follow that path back STAY on the map page and just follow your track back on the screen---make sure you are zoomed in all the way (200 foot screen I believe). Also make sure you have your map page menu set to course up (not called that on the eTrex--but you only have 2 choices) NOT north up.
In either case (1 or 2) you will have to be on the MAP page to do it the way you describe.
Hope this helps. Any questions PM me with your phone number and I'll get back to you.
