We just prefer not to talk about it. It's kinda like when someone pulls out in front of you. If they don't look your way then it's like it didn't really happen as far as their concerned. We just don't listen to the long range forcasts. They have been wrong before, so they are wrong this year too! You understand me There Wrong I tell ya WRONG, It's gunna be cold cold cold with Lotsa Ice and Fish Jumpin outa the hole and people stopping by the shanty and giving me Food and drinks and spare bait and the Kids giving me a $500 gift certificate for Gander Mountain for Christmas and....................................:dizzy:

What I read said there was a mild el nino which could have little effect on temperatures and a slight increase in snowfall. However there were some predictions that the mild el nino was going to increase to a stronger el nino and if that happened it would be like 1998. However I believe only about half of what I read from weathermen.

Only nine more days of warm wearther. it's going to get cold and even colder after nine more days, This happens every time I get a new toy !!! Bought a boat a few years back and the weather sucked all summer long (rain and cold temps). Bought a snowmobile last year (no snow). Bought a new a power auger last year (lack of good thick ice). Bought a under water camera and a flasher ( well lock outside)
I'm not going to buy anything until it's below freezing and the ice is 15 inches thick  sorry I'm a little bitter but it is going to get cold again:fish: we are doooooooo !!

I thought about the ol' jinx before I posted this. Kind of like not saying shut-out or no hitter before the game is over. But I figure can't be worse then last winter can it?

copper,
We are pretty much in the same area. I hope it gets better. After looking at our 10-day forcast, doesnt look good at all. It had said like 34 on the 20th. Thats when the temps started to go down.

This weather is brutal again! Im going up to the Big Manistee this weekend to escape my blues and hope to catch a steely or two on the good ol' fly rod. Then all I want is to slay some pike on the tip-ups. You know what I mean?
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
I hope Im alive when I awake
I pray it was cold enough last night for ice to make.

If anyone is thinking of heading north looking for ice..........don't! Our lakes are wide open.

Last saturday we had ice on the lake my cottage is on in mid MI out about 120 yards from teh breakwall. It was over 1" thick at the breakwall. It warmed up a little about freezing but I thought it wouldn't hurt it all that bad... but Sunday afternoon the ice was mostly gone.

I just read in the paper that Europe has the same problem. Not cold enough in the Alps for snow. As you know the Alps are renown for their many ski slopes and events. Germany is reporting that fruit trees are budding. Think what that will do to their economy. Mother Nature is off kilter and it will affect us all. I still hope for normal cold, maybe after Christmas.

Yeah the ol'lady is supposed to be going over to germany to vistit her parents over christmas break and they have a week long ski trip planned over christmas. Kinda feel bad for her but she dosen't feel bad about me not having any ice yet. So i just kinda laugh at the situation. i guess i'll just hafta get out the bow and get another deer. If you know any good fishing spots around lansing or battle creek area it would be nice cause shes excited about getting on the ice for the first time in her life when she gets back, and I want her to enjoy it.:D

Last week, I put up the boat and pulled the sleding into the garage for some pre-season wrenching. After reading the Muskegon Lake report, the boat's coming back out and the sled is getting parked! There more than one way to fillet a fish:D

I remember many winters when I was younger and recently as 2002 when we had a very cold winter Im sure most of you remember. The early part of the winter had been similar this winter so far but then after Christmas the cold settled in and the ice came in and stayed.I think that alot of you guys are rushing it.If it freezes up around Christmas time more than likely we will have at least 2-3 months of an ice fishing season.Dont worry if there isnt any ice now it will come soon enough.Enjoy the weather now that we have you can still catch fish and you dont have freeze doing it:)

Mr L:
Check the Outings forum, regarding a M-N-G in Lansing on Dec 20. Between the guys that have already expressed interest, we will know a good number of lakes around the area.

yea i typed it really fast but just looking at the past. The current records were recored in the 1980's and this winter seems to be and imige of i believe the winter in DEC of 99 were dec was really warm and then boom big snow storm and the rest of the winter was cold. So i think the weather is just more of a pattern then anything. And just looking at accua weather whitch i usually dont like to look at its soppost to get cold and looking at weather.com just now they changed it a little were about 4 days that were in the 40's are now in the 30's so. hopefully soon ...
