Just wanted to be the first this year to say those dreaded words, Fremont Lake.
No ice as of today............

Ain't nothing going to freeze up until this wind lets up.

It was interesting that the temp went from 15 degrees at around 6am to 5 degrees by 9 am. Plenty of 'steam' being let off the lake. It was probably the first morning where I actually thought there was a chance of making ice.
However since its now at 20:30 warmer than its been all day and warm temps on the way... will be waiting for those single digit calm ice forming nights of January.

SFW1960 fished it out.

It really does take that green slime water a long time to freeze.
But fear not...I'm predicting a banner year on The FreEk this season. I'll bet there will be perhaps two or three walleyes iced and a few nice perch topping 6 inches. :woohoo1:
Yes, I know it's a longshot, but ya' gotta have faith.

To heck with the ice and cold anyway!!
It is more fun wading through the creeks, checking traps and having your hip boots fill up with water.

This reminds me of running into a CO at a local business this year and I asked him about Fremont Lake fishing report. His comment was "Even when its good its not really that good is it?"
There was a boat out today not sure if they were perch milkers or what.

Man Robert I figured they'd be hitting it big time today. We should have went. Took a ride with the Warden today up to Cadillac. NO ICE up there to speak of, nice and calm and a few boats out fishing. Also stopped at Peacock dreamland on top of the Wolf lake hill. Salesmen in there sitting on top of snowmobiles just making noise. Crying like babies they were about the lack of snow.
Dang, Moms said "why don't you sell your big tractor and get a quad with a blade." :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: Kind of brushed it off saying I'll think about it. Hell yes I'll think about it...............

Yesterday there was not an open launch spot there were that many boats out. It was a pretty nice day for sure.
Unfortunately the fishing remains slow. Basically the hallmark of Fremont Lake few perch mostly small maybe occasional jumbo 9" and once in a while an eye.

I hear ya Wes. I stopped by the launch around 11AM yesterday and there was only maybe 1 or 2 spots left.
Robert got his tug boat out of the garage and we went eye searching around 4PM till 7PM. One bump each was all we could muster and nothing to the net...................nice afternoon/evening till the wind came up around 6:30PM. Did mark lots and lots of fish though. Lockjaw, thinking there's just too much food swimming around for them to be real hungry.

There was about 1/2 inch of ice or less this am. It was initially skimmed over but warmed and blew out a bit today.

Its funny you should say its -1 because I was going to edit my post and add its -1.
I may go check some ice in the am. I expect the smaller lakes to have at least 2 inches but Fremont may/ may not make it by the weekend.

If you do check the smaller lakes...could I get a report from you? Feel free to pm me. Thinking of heading out this weekend if the ice is solid.
