We have not seen the anti trapping commercial. However, I do believe trapping is probably the most vulnerable of all the outdoor activities. What I would really like is to let the average Michigander know the truth. I'm talking about folks that don't hunt, fish or trap, but they do vote. That if they do take recreational trapping away there will still be trapping. People, such as myself, that not only recreational trap but also hold a commercial operator's license. And if I have to come out in the spring or summer, and thats when most damage complaints occur, they are going to have to foot the bill. Coon are bringing about $12, that same complaint coon is going to cost them three to four times that and it is always more than one. I also would like to have them look at states that have banned trapping and the problems that arose. I know there are outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen, that can get the truth out better than me. Also, join a trappers association, it doesn't matter which one, just join one.

Here's the Michigan Trappers Association. They break the state down by districts but are a state organization. They also have a meeting in Grass Lake tomorrow morning at 10am. I wanted to go since it was close but just got back in town after a week up north and won't make it.

There's also a link to the National Association.

I sent my check in last week. Even if you're not a trapper it's a way of supporting an organization who will be on the forefront of the next fight. Every hunter should support them for the next battle.

I agree with Gunrod 100%. If you value hunting (even if you don't trap) you should join a Michigan Trapping association. Because if they outlaw fur trapping, after a few seasons its gonna be mighty slim pickens hunting, as there are quite a few predators in Michigan. (It will be way out of balance) So please join one of the several Michigan trappers associations. They are all beneficial.
