Watching the Red Wings on Friday night I saw my first Humane Society anti-trapping commercial. Fresh off their win with the Mourning Doves, they’re on the attack guys. We need to mobilize now and fight them head-to-head or we’re going to likely see the end of trapping as we know it. This means fund raising so that we can counter their B.S. commercials, like the one for Doves. It’s all a propaganda campaign to the bleeding hearts and tree-huggers and if we wait like we did on the Doves thinking someone else will do it, guess who’s going to loose? We need to be united on this and get all the outdoors people aware of what’s going on. Any other thoughts?

They tried in the 80's, but they were too unorganized. Now it is getting them somewhere. They figured out that only a small percentage of people were anti- hunting, and trapping and that most people saw them as wierd. Now they appeal to the huge majority that are not anti, but they don't really care either way. Nobody bought the " A fish is a rat is a dog is a boy" or whatever that crap was. I knew the dove bill was in trouble when my sister called and asked me "Why do we need to hunt doves?" This is from a family where there are a bunch of hunters.

In my opinion outdoorsmen and women need to quit all the little arguments and concentrate on larger things first. "Why do we need handguns, why do we need semi autos, why do we need trapping, why do we need to hunt bears with dogs," It would be interesting to know their list.

They started airing that more the week after the election. From what I heard, they started airing it sparingly a year or so ago. I believe is the same commercial but I didn't see it until recently. Start contacting other outdoor organizations to make them aware of the coming test and see about starting some grass roots public support efforts now. It is the Xmas season, some newspapers will probably do favorable write ups to those who help the needy in some way. Possibly collect some canned and dry goods and donate them in the name of a trapping organization. The fire this afternoon of a St. Vincent De Paul store could provide some positive media coverage to those who offer their help however they can. Just ideas. I tried hard to help with the dove bill but I will openly say that only a few people, even on this site, were interested enough to take even one hour out their schedules to help the cause. Just voting is not enough since we are so out munbered. It's never too early to start. Proposal 3 only received something like 30% in favor so when the antis put trapping on the ballot we will all have an extremely tough row to hoe.

question, how does it work...

lets say i want to get a proposal on the ballot to ban trapping....is it just a collection of signatures, or is there also legislation via lansing that has to take place?

can a proposal vote then be vetoed, after the general population has voted?

we need to get a few thousand hunters down to lansing..maybe a few times and get on the news and in the papers think what would happen.....the antis would come out in force and show their true color....if we as a group could maintain ourselfs and let the antis make fools of themselves in the public eye..........think about the irrational behavior in the past throwing blood and red paint on people that wear furs ect....stealing signs from our yards..........people who can lie and play games like that have no self control a nice peacful demonstration on our part could go miles for our hunting and trapping future

I sent them some feedback. I basicly told them they are supporting an org that uses lies & misleading info to get what they want.
Many Sportsmen & women are also sports fans, it's sad what networks will air for a few dollars.

I am not 100 percent positive on this, but can FSN deny someone air time if its paid for? I just dont know if the group trying to by a ad ( this case being the HSUS) can sue if they are denied for discrimination? just not sure on how that works. The question is why FSN is it because mostly males watch it and they hope to offend people who hunt, and gain supporters from males who are on the fence about hunting issues?? lets face it mostly men are in the sport and the more guys they can get on their side, the better off they are. But your right, they are infringing on the rights of everyone, whether they agree with hunting or not, and this org needs to be exposed and stopped

I gave them feedback and let them know I'm done watching anything while they have anti trapping ads running. I thought trapping was a sport? They are a sports program are they not? I'm done with them and so is my family until the ads stop.

i havent laid any traps for a couple years, but i think we should be talking to county road com.finding out how much it cost to fix roads from beavers and rats.or animals breaking legs in holes . pets being killed by yotes.live stock being killed.picture of mangy fox and yotes dieing. distemper in coons.scare or wake people up about what could happen when animals go unchecked.people can die from some of the stuff that animals cary.we need to document stories about the truth for or own campany.

CRITTERGETTER: That's exactly what we need. We all belong and/or visit other forums. If everyone posts this on one other forum, think of the exposure we can get. Now is the time to band together brothers and sisters. If we value our rights as Trappers, Hunters, and Fisherpersons, we must all get involved. An attack against one is an attack against all of us. If we present a united front, we will be able to squelch this thing before they have a chance to pray on the bleeding hearts and tree huggers. An informed person is an educated person. We have to beat them to the punch. Spread the word!
