I've almost made the decision to pull the trigger on buy a new photo gallery for this site. If the developer of this photo gallery will agree to add just one more feature it will be a done deal.
This will mean that the current home-page/gallery will probably be done away with in the near future. I know that is bad news to those of you who have spent some time in there setting up home page, but I think most of you have been using it for picture storage only anyway.
The good new is the new software supports the following:
-Same user name/password as our forums.
-Automatic image resizing and thumbnails
-Ability to browse everyone's photos.
-Ability to rate others photos
-Ability to comment on others photos
-Ability for me to set multi-tiered limits on disk space usage
(This means you won't be limited to a set number of photos and if you size them wisely you can cram more into your account).
This is just to name a few of the features. Now you might ask, "Is free picture hosting going away?", and my answer is no, however there may be a multi-tiered system, whereby if you want more than the default minimum of storage you pay a yearly fee for example.
We may also keep the old gallery system in place for those businesses that do not have an existing website and need an easy way to create one. Then we can sell them advertising :)
