I am still deciding on the reel for my rainshadow 13' float rod and found a used raven vectra sst with new bearing last year for $140, until I saw this reel, I was leaning towards a okuma sheffield, any thoughts on these two?

A used centerpin is not neccessarily a "bad" centerpin. It takes time to break in bearings and the more you use it the better it will spin. I own a sheffield and have used a vectra a few times, if i would have be able to snag a vectra for 140 bucks I would have jumped all over it. Both reels spin good but I think the handle placement is better on the vectra. It seems like when you are doing a lot of BC casting with a sheffield you tend to do a little "knucklebusting" for some reason.

my 2 cents

I bought the Vectra, hopefully that works out well. Unfortunately, I do not know when I will get to building the float rod, but I at least will have the reel so I can try to balance it.
