My nephew got his frist kill on a coon .well his dad wanted to mount it but thought the price was to high something like 500 bucks was wondering if that was with in reason.or is there anyone that could do it cheaper.

My nieghbor does it for 295 including base life size raccoon.

Price should not be the deciding factor. Quality first. Do some research first. Stop by some shops and check out their work first.

I have seen this guy do work and I have seen his completed work. I have seen mounts done by people that charge 2 times what he does and if you put them side by side I don't think you would be able to tell the difference. I believe Taxidermy is an art and just like any art the artist puts the price tag on his work himself. I know my nieghbor is not doing it for money but for the enjoyment. I believe that some taxidermists do it for a living and that is why the prices vary so much from one shop to another. The prices also vary in regions of the state and country. Just because one mans prices are less then another mans does not mean the cheaper price is of less quality of work or craftsmanship.

That is my point exactly. Shop by quality. Not price.
