Going too be looking for a new Bow this summer. I been shooting the same one for the last 10 plus years. Well the time has come, (Do too stuff rusting and stripping). The bow I shoot was bought at Auburn Archery. The bow is a Mountainer. (There out of bus)! I would like to buy a used one do too E-bay being full of them. What is a good bow for a person with a long draw? Good Quality?

Mathews?
PSE?
Fred Bear?
Browning?
Oneida?
Bowteck?

Has there been a poll on this anywhere? Or a posting on what is a popular bow. P.S. (I live paycheck to paycheck like the rest of ya)! Dont want to spend a whole lot. LOL

There all good nowadays. It boils down to a personal preference for comfort and feel. May want to check out archerytalk.com classifieds too. Great deals can be found this time of year not only on used bows but last years closeouts too.;)

All bows fit people differently. Shoot as many as possible before you buy. If you're a lefty, I've got a Mathews Outback w/ a Trophy Ridge sight, Muzzy zero Effect rest, and string leaches for sale! Nice bow I just need to unload one of my four bows!

I'd look real hard at the new Martin line myself.

The bows I've seen are extremely nice and I was blown away by the price tags I saw. 2-3 HUNDRED dollars less than some of the others out there in some cases and all of the quality, as good if not better customer service and they shoot like a dream.

Bengal, Cheetah, Leopard...all amazing bows.

I could give you my opinion based on my bow and the bows I shot before I decided which one to go with(and I shot a lot of bows before buying). There are a lot of opinions out there as to how good someone else's bow is, but you need to shoot all to decide. Since you listed Oneida, I know you can run into many used Oneidas at their factory in Marion and at better prices than what they were new.

Take your time, shoot them all and have fun doing it. You will run into the right bow for you.

go to as many proshops as you can and shoot all the bows. then decide. there is no possible way for us to tell you what the best bow is for you.

I agree try as many different brands as you can. In the August 2006 Outdoor Life Magazine there is a good article doing an independent test on the major brands 2006 bows. You could probably find a copy at your local library. Once you get past a 30" draw your choices are limited. I shoot a 2005 Hoyt V-Tec which as adjustable Cams which will go from 29.5 - 31.5. It has been a accrurate bow at both 3D and in the field. Here is another good source of information. http://www.huntersfriend.com/

Good luck!

I just got a Diomond Rapture and it fits me like a glove. I do however agree with the majority here. Just go and try as many bows as possible. Maybe you will get lucky like I did and find one that you just fall in love with and at the right price. At only $400(for the bow itself) I like my Rapture much more than bows nearly twice that price. Good Luck!

Where can you go and just shoot different bows? Bass Pro? Cabelas? Any sporting goods stores?

I took the opportunity to go to the sports show that is held in Lansing, Birch Run and GR every year. I thought the Lansing show had a better lay out of vendors for ease of finding everything. The show is held during the spring months (sorry I don't know exactly when) and you will run into probably more bows in one location than any place else. Most vendors want you to shoot their bows and most will have a booth to shoot from.

A good sports shop will carry a lot of bows, but I haven't seen one yet that carries all bows. If you can wait until Spring, I encourage you to try this route. Spend the whole day or weekend shooting and comparing. You will find something you like.

You may need to go to a few different pro shops to shoot different brands. Take a week or two to shoot a few you're interested in. Don't look for the "best" bow right off the bat, rather eliminate the bows you don't like. Keep shooting and eventually you'll end up with the bow that fits you best.
