Okay Guys and Gals... Time to stop F'ing around with the HSUS. I read during this political season that a churches tax exempt status was threatened because the pasture was involving himself in the political process. As we all know, the HSUS is a purely political machine. I'm no expert on tax law, perhaps some members here are. I believe with all my heart that if M~S.com put every effort behind an on-line petition drive to revoke the HSUS tax exempt status. Then took that petition to every other hunting/fishing/outdoors site that we belong to or visit the effects could be staggering. Maybe it would not result in the revocation of their tax exempt status, but it would force them to spend a great deal of money defending themselves. if 5000 of use got ten signatures thats 50,000 signatures. Then they got ten each, 500,000 Then they got ten each, 5,000,000. Three generations of the petition could generate 5,000,000 signatures!
That goal is not unrealistic.

Opinions Please.

Led by PETA, theHumane Society of the United States, and other activist groups, the animal liberation movement does not seek to improve animals' lives. It's goal is to place unnecessary restrictions on ordinary people like you.

Today's activists want to force you to eat nothing but beans and greens; and wear nothing but cotton, rayon, and rubber. They want to ban hunting, fishing, zoos, rodeos, and circuses. Some want to permanently end Kosher slaughter. They even want to outlaw the use of animals in thesearch for cures for AIDS, Parkinson's Disease, and cancer. And a growing number take the law into their own hands, crossing the line from peaceful protest to violent crime.

It's a terrible scam. The world deserves to know the truth.

I didn't realize there's another petition drive going on against PETA on the Upland Game Hunting. Per that petition, this is one of the tax exempt requirements.

To be eligible for 501(c)(3) tax exemption, a group must be organized and operate exclusively for charitable purposes. Its activities cannot be illegal, or "in conflict with express statutory restrictions." And its activities must promote its main purpose.

I think that getting their tax exempt status revoked would be a great idea and would deal a huge blow to their radical activities.

HOWEVER, these (and other animal rights groups) are fundraising machines that are fueled mostly by Hollywood liberals. With their almost bottomless pockets, I don't know if we could match the money that they could "raise" to fight a legal battle.

Great idea, but I just don't know if it could be done or not. Remember, it's all (or mostly) about the money these days.

one main reason that they can so easily raise large amounts of money is because there are only 2 main groups (PETA and HSUS), however, everyone and there brother belongs to a different hunting/fishing organization. If there was only 2 hunting/fishing groups that people belonged to i believe we would be just as strong, because if we had 2 big organized groups they would be recognized by the "big shots"....

i don't see peta/hsus as organizations, i see them as political collaborations. PETA nothing but one big politician....

That petition has been going on for about 4 years and has accomplished nothing.

If you guys want to start doing something to disrupt HSUS then first thing is to write letters to your elected representatives asking why they are tax exempt or getting tax breaks. Write the letter, make the phone call as a follow-up. Do not take the easy way out by using eMail.
