This is a great site and I've learned alot from everone. The question I have is a was fortunate enough to land a beautiful Walleye, yet the question I have is after I got home and looked at the fish two hours later and discovered that the fish had a balloon reddish looking attachment that was extruding from it's body and I've never seen this before and I want to know if it's still good to eat or if something is wrong with it.
Thank you

After you clean it look to see if it in the meat or not and if it just on the skin you should be alright.. I have caught many fish with diffrent growths on walleye and if your not happy with what you see after cleaning it throw one side of the fillet out, Well I hope this helps.. Cya Slick
PS..Fill out your profile so we can tell a little about ya and what waters you fish

Thank you;
I'll wait until the morning before I clean the fish, yet it just seems so strange that the fish when caught looked perfect and later it looked great, yet three hours later a growth appeared it on that looked like a premature apple.
Well this may be due to inexperience, yet, Ill see how the fillet looks once I clean the fish.
The saddest part is, the offshore Walleye fishing is coming to an end. Which means the reels will start to freeze and the minnows will not be available to attract the Walleye, if you fish offshore you might be finished until Spring!!!!!!!!!!!! The hours that it takes to land a catch have become more difficult.
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds similiar to a few eye's Ive caught out in the Bay. A redish blemish kindof like a tiny cluster blister type of sore, maybe even a battle wound looking type of of patchy thing. The first time it happened I was fortunate to have the DNR guys a the launch doin a survey and showed them. What they told me is that its some sort a parasite that they develope and is not even harmful to the fish nor humans. It does go away after a period of time if uncaught and left in its environment, just clean it as normal and cook normally. They also stated that if your uncomfortable with it just discard that whole fillet. I could be wrong but try asking in their thread to confirm it or even giving them a ring.

You are all correct!!
Once I cleaned the fish and I was able to view the fillet, I found no damage, just in case, I thought I'd surprise my Mother-In-Law with fresh Walleye....Lol.
Thank again
