I have a quick question. How do you know where stateland boundaries are? The reason I ask is because I had a treestand taken, ( I don't want to say stolen) because it ended up being private land. I honestly had no clue it was private. It was surrounded by stateland and it was not posted until the day the stand was taken. Is there a map on the DNR Website of stateland with road names? Just trying to figure this out so it does not happen again. Thanks

The DNR website has some maps on-line (I believe under publications) which show were state lands is located. As a land owner next to state land Tresspasser do upset me, but as you indicated, it was not posted and that is the landowners fault. I have posted my property lines very well so no body can make that mistake, but people still have cross onto it. Sorry about your treestand, but those few bad apples the trespass on posted property really do spoil it for everyone else.
Go talk to the person and appoligize for the mistake and ask them if they could show you where the boundaries are so that you don't interfer with him again. I would be much happier knowing the person who is hunting the state land next to me then some stranger who I have never talked too, and be more approving of letting them track a deer onto my property.

I leave a message on that stand ladder informing them that they have wondered off the state land and that they have until Saturday Noon to either remove it or call me and meet me to get there stand back. On occasion I have let them keep there stand there if they seem like responsible type of hunters. meaning that there isn't any trash around there stand left from there hunt. I feel better if I know where the other hunters are, I don't have to worry about being an accident. And this is also if there not within a 100 yards of my stand. but ussually they are only a few yards from the property line. My property is very well marked (every Tree all the way around.)but if they wonder threw the swamp they can miss them if they have there heads down.

I also check plot maps and usually go to http://terraserver.microsoft.com/ which gets me a lat/lon to put in my GPS
