Anyone know of one? I want to check a piece of CF land to make sure that it still CF land and who owns it. I am hesitant to spend $40 for an entire book. The land is in Muskegon County.

I was wondering if any libraries had them-?

I've looked online because I also balked at $40 for something that is not even guaranteed to be accurate. I've found sites that sell them but noone that posts them online.
You can go to the MSU map library and they have them for every county going back more years than you will probably ever need.

Hit a library in the area with hand full of nickles and you will have all the pages you need. I look two years ago for an online source and come up with nothing. This year we went into the brand new library in Charloix asked the lady at the desk and she even made the copies for us.

Or find a peace of property that you may be interested in close by and ask for a plat map copy from the realtor.

Some Mi counties and even individual townships are equipped w/ online property info. capabilties that you can use. Go to their web sites and check - - -I googled Muskegon co and found this one you can try:
http://www.co.muskegon.mi.us/deeds/record_search.htm
toward the bottom click on "continue to record search" and go from there
I've never used Muskegon co web site before so I don't know how much they give you but some counties down here Barry, Van Buren, will give you complete info for every property/parcel including plat maps.
Hope this helps - if not, do a search for the web site of the township the property you're researching is in to see if they have online parcel search w/ mapping

Go to the Muskegon County Equalization dept they have all the info you need. It WAS on Apple avenue just east of the Goodwill store. They have all the records of land ownership including wherteh the property is still under CFA. they also have aerial photos you can look at and also purchase copys of.

Here is a DNR website that lists all CF lands, you still might need a platte map to fine tune the exact location. Their maps are so so..

If you undertand how to read property descriptions and have a county map this website will answer your question. It takes some time to figure out the format the info is listed, once you do it is a breeze; and it's free.
EDIT
They changed the website & format. Much easier to hone in. Great, I love it. I did end up buying 3 plat books so I have them in the truck. I have a camp in the UP that is right at a point where 3 counties come together. The plat books are a lot faster
EDIT AGAIN
Wow, they changed the site completely. The long lists, the 160 pages for each UP county, I can't find. This is much better. They used to update the info each year. I've had a number of discussions with the state office that contols CFA, I have 160 acres enrolled, I know they update it one time per year.
EDIT #3
This is the other web page with the detailed listing by owner, the site I was refering and have used in the past. This ties it right down. This is very nice info and much cheaper than a $40 Plat Book, though the books are very nice. You might thru $40 of printer ink printing all the maps.

I just spent another 15 minutes at the CFA map website. This is fantastic info, and it's no additional charge. This is some of the best info I have seen at the DNR website. This is what the internet should be. I just found another bunch of grouse covers to look up the next time I'm at the family cottage in the LP. There are some new CFA tracts listed. I'm cranked. In fact 2 weeks back, looking thru my County maps, I tried a little 120 acre section of State land. Put up two birds right away. Across the road looked real nice but is was not state land, it is private. But, my look thru this website, it's CFA. I'll be back. Oh Yea

Thanks everyone! A kind member PM'd me the plat book page BUT..... The shape of the land is very obvious on the DNR page. However, it does not match up on the plat book. The DNR map shows a road as a border but the plat book has a piece of land between the CF land in question and the road. Still working on it.... Thanks again!

Plat books, the info is not always accurate.
I own 80 acres in Marquette Co. The 2002 plat book lists an owner other than me, some one who has never owned the 80 I own, but it's someone who does own quite a bit of property in the area.
Another 95 acres I own in Baraga Co is CFA but is not listed as CFA in the 2006 Plat book. I have owned it for 2 years, the plat book was just published this fall. It also shows my property as 95 acres but lists it as 80. Also my neighbor's 30 acres is listed CFA but it is not enrolled in CFA and a parcel must be 40 contiguous acres to be entered into the CFA program.
The DNR Maps and the lists do show both my properties and my neighbors property correctly. I've also noticed that their are many roads in the woods that are never shown in a Plat book. I would tend to lean towards the info at the DNR site.
