:( :( :( i got ripped off at north lake at grand mere in berrien county. i was there wednesday, november the 8th fishing and playing with my two boys at the playground. the fishing there isn't too good but its a nice playground. heard a full sized white gm pickup truck hauling out of the parking lot, went back toward the bench where my tackle box and favorite northface fleece jacket were sitting. GONE!!! called the lincoln township police.
30 years of memories and tackle in that plano box. i was hoping that my boys would get it someday. how do you put a dollar value on that?!?
LOOK OUT!

I sure feel for you after the same thing happened to me. I used to fish that lake all the time along with middle lk. and it seems that it attracts those kind of people at times. I hope you find your stuff, the police did absolutely nothing for me. I would try parrit's pawn shop in benton harbor, you never know.

People are scum....4 years ago we went on our annual father/son salmon fishing trip to Rogers City for a week. When we came home and were putting all of the salmon gear away, we noticed that all of our other walleye fishing gear, 14 rods, 5 tackle boxes, spare depthfinder, etc and a generator were stolen while we were away. The police came out, made a report and the officer asked me if I had insurance, I told him yes. He said "Good, now you can get some good new equipment"....I just stared back at him and said "you cannot replace what was in there". And the suggestion to go to a pawn shop searching, the pawn shop owner of Ron's pawn shop in Roseville told me it was illegal for him to even answer my questions if they had any fishing gear come in recently.

I wish I could help you out on this as thieves need to have their fingers cut off just as if it were mid evil times...I suppose PITA would jump in and say it was cruel and unususl treatment of stupid people....

I had some tools stolen a while back and I went to the pawnshop near me and they told me they had them. I took the police back and they got the guy and I got my tools back...I have never heard of a law that said they couldn't tell you. I would ask a LEO and he said there wasn't then I would figure that the guy had something to hide...

There was a thread I think last year where there was talk of laying a trap for these lowlife, scumsucking, blankety-blanks..I think that is a good idea and I would volunteer some time for that...I hope you get your stuff back...

Another lake to watch out for is South Lake off of North teritorial and Joslin road .

I dont know about in the winter , but in the summer months , they loved to rip off whole trucks out of there.

I fished there about 4 years ago on a weekday morining , decided to come in before noon , only to find my truck passenger vent window lock popped .
I noticed to fellows at the dock sitting in there truck when I came in , I think I did so at the wright time . They drove by kind of slow looking at what truck I went to , after that they hi tailed out of there before I could get a liscense .

Good luck in getting your stuff back .

Back when I lived down in FT.Wayne there was a guy going around my area breaking into houses and stealing TV's stereos ect. He was taking it to several of the area pawn shops. I got ripped of my neighbor got ripped off The detective went with my neighbor to the pawn shop and there was his tv and stereo the guy wanted his stuff back but the woman at the pawn shop said he would have to buy it back. Than the detective said fine then I arrest you for recieving stolen property. Well then it was OK for the guy to have his stuff back. This pawn shop told the detective that this thief had brough it 32 TV's. The detective asked if they didn't think that was just a little odd, they no some people have a lot of TV's. I wasn't so lucky I never got my stereo back. I think the pawn shop owner that you talked to is a lieing piece of *****.

i had a 15 h.p. johnson stolen off my boat a few weeks back. the motor was locked to my boat. they used bolt cutters to the the big master lock. luck was on my side id say as the police found it at a pawn shop in town. i had insurance on the boat an motor. an that costs only 50 bucks a year, an good investment. the insurance company payed for the motor to be gone thru by a local marina plus a new prop. so what i see about every one that has got ripped.......a pawn shop owner is just one step above the rip-offs as that gives the ripp offs an outlet to sell the stolen iteams. end of story tho the 3 guys are now sitting in the city jail eating jail slopp for dinner an im eatin white fish i caught last weekend.

When I was in New York. they used 2 full sized vans they pull up one on each side of your truck or boat open the side door take what they want then they are on their way. They used a sting to catch them

I feel for man. I'm all about setting traps. We were getting bikes ripped off all around our place this summer. So I bought a good looking broken(gears fried)
bike for $10.00. I cut an 2in off the front of the seat and installed a piece of oak 2.5"x6" on the underside of the seat with 4 springs from a rat trap fastened to the metal. I loosened up the seat post and tacked on a metal nub so when you sat on the seat it would trigger the trap. The board would spring over the front of seat and "whack/Pinch" the first thing it hit. Which by design was the family jewels on said bike thief. I would just park that thing in the front yard at night and wait for those screems in the night! Dang it was a good summer!
