Gone Fishing

Well, we hung up our Perch rods for a day and went for those toothy critters. The weather tried to put a damper on things but we kept plugging away and ended up with a pretty respectable catch. Worked 10 – 12 fow of water off the south shore and ended up 7 for 12. 4 of those fish were off before we got to the rod. I’m not a real big Muskie fisherman and especially when the Perch are biting but this was a lot of fun. We didn’t get the big one we were hoping for but we got a few that were pretty decent. Here’s a few pics:

Here's Jr with the 1st fish of the day

Not too big but we've caught smaller

This was the big fish of the day but Paul had his hands full trying to hold it for a picture. We ended up with another fish that hit while we were trying to take the picture so we gave up and tossed it back and went after the next one.

Here was another good one to end the day!

Way to go Paul & John on a truly miserable day. It rained hard all day on shore. What did that big one go? All on boards? Glad you got to try for the trophy that this time of year brings.

Good job guys, very nice fish. The perch were not as cooperative, so I think you made a good choice. Caught fish in several locations on the Canadian side, but nothing hot and heavy like yesterday. Surprised I didn't see more boats out today!

We fished out by the belle river today. Only seen one die hard boat out there was that you? We went 1 for 2 no real size. Those are nice looking fish better than a sunk. How was the water clairity by you ? Were you fishing west of us? Pikes creek???

Awesome John & Paul!

A few fish in the boat makes the weather much more tolerable... :)

We fished between the Belle and Pikes. Water was dirty but not pure mudd. I lost sight of the baits 1 - 2 feet down.

Nice work John,

We left Deckers around 11:30am in hopes for some Muskie action too. We set up off Pine Creek and trolled East in 9-10 FOW. We picked one (35") up just west of the Puce.

Then I heard John on the radio trying to hail someone. Since the guy did not responde back, I gave John a shout. Who would have thought it, but we were only half a mile from each other. John suggested we move a bit deeper. He was 6 for 10 when we talked, way better than our 1 for 1.

I don't know if it was that we went just that little bit deeper, or if what it was, maybe John's luck transfered to our boat when talked to us on the radio, but rods started firing from 2pm to 3pm.

We fished 4 hours total, went 8 for 8, and the size range of 35-45 inch class fish. My cousin has the images, so I dunno if I will be able to post.

It was nice to get into them, as the previous 3 trips were skunks.

We also boated 4 golden lampreys, releasing 8 golden lamprey halves thanks to the cutco scissors.

A breath of fresh air guys. Don't complain, just get out there and have fun. Paul you need to spend a little more time in the gym. lol

It also helps if you know what your doing. Lake Saint Clair is said to be the best musky lake in the world, and I think it is good for many other species as well. Excellent!
