I have a nice bear skull in my freezer. I was going to send it out to skulls unlimited to have it cleaned and bleached the right way. $75.00 which isn't that bad at all. I havn't done it yet because im too lazy. Does anyone recomend doing it yourself, knowing a bear skull is very dense and different than a deer skull

I do them the exact way I do a european deer skull and they turn out great. Just dont boil the skull just simmer it. Get as much meat off as you can then simmer it with sal soda and pick off all the leftover meat. Degrease it in hot water and dish soap. Let dry scrape any little meat in the cracks and then whiten with 40 vol peroxide and clairol basic white.

Hey Mack,

Any beauty supply store has it get 40 vol peroxide and clairol basic white make a paste and paint it on the skull only. Cover with a plastic bag and let sit then keep doing that till it is as white as you want it then rinse in water and let dry.
