Man i`m so jazzed about this gun season like know other...Talked to a guy 2 days ago who has some family property. And asked me if I new anyone that would be interested in leasing it? Said I would ask around work and let him know.I`ve always hunted state land, and in kalkaska co theres way to many hunters per deer imho.Ive never shot a buck. With that said I deicided to look at the piece , it`s 120 ac`s and hilly with beech and oak ridges.Called him last night and sent him the check this morning...Went out there today ,and found 5 scrapes all active in various locations throughout prop. Set up 4 ground blinds along ridge-tops, also set up 2 cameras strategically placed. Around 4:30 did the walk around and put up orange no- hunt signs(with owners ok).Surveying background helps out there.Man you know when something just feels right? .My 1st year with scent lock clothes, maybe this is my year??? Sorry for the book, just very much looking forward to this nov 15th...Would be wonderful to finally bag that elusive trophy michigan whitetail! Be safe and dont over-cook those backstraps;) .

Welcome to whitetail nirvana. You just won the Xmas turkey. I know the feeling you are having right now. My case was different in that I was invited to hunt a piece of property not far from my home about 15 years ago and I have taken 8 really nice bucks so far off this land. If this property is all that you are hoping for, hang on to it with your life! Make an offer in advance to lease for next year and up the ante if that's what it takes. Good hunting land is definitely at a premium these days. Congratulations and I truly hope it works out for you. Keep us posted, and have a great hunt!

I also know how you feel. I have been trying to lease a certain piece of property for the last three years and out of the blue yesterday I get a call from them asking me if I am still interrested in leasing it? YES!!!!!!!!!!! So I am picking up over 400 acers of prime deer ground, in farm country, just few miles from my home and I will have it all to myself!

Checked the cameras last night ,and they were maxed out...5 doe,2 that were huge at one set-up. And a big 3 point at the other. These were the daylight pics, need to tweek the nightime shots, will post when complete...There must be a dominate buck in there to tend to all those hotties!;) If not would you consider taking the 3pt as a cull(buck) ??? Thanks for responding.

I noticed in your original post you've never taken a buck. So to answer your question I would not consider the 3 point a "cull buck", I'd consder it a trophy if I was in your shoes.

shoot the doe, it weights more, taste better and let those small horns grow:)
