I was wondering if anyone has had injurys from splintering or broken carbon arrows? I myself had a arrow sliver peirce through my thumb it was as i was pulling them from the target and it went compleatly through my thumb,it went through it so quickly i didn't realize what had happened and was left standing with a peice of carbon arrow hanging out both sides of my thumb. and did it hurt when it was pulled out! I was online looking for the photo of the carbon arrow that had exploded and went through the guys hand, does anyone have a line on that photo? I seen it in these forums sometime back.
Thanks Bugg.

No I never have. I have seen that pic and its severe! I have been trying to shoot a cross wrap arrow to avoid splintering. My carbontech cheetahs are a great arrow and they are cross wrapped so they typically dont splinter, just break in half. Makes me feel better. Just keep an eye on your arrows and always flex first.

I shot at a buck earliear this year and my lucky arrow exploded about 10 feet out of the arrow. The whole back half blew into pieces. The arrow had been threw a elk and 4 deer. I should have checked it for cracks. I did becouse of this check my others and found 3 that shouldnt be shot anymore. So check them.

The buck was alittle surprised to say the least. He was sprayed with carbon fibers! lol

I was able to call him back though and shoot him at 33 yards.

I was lucky I guess when looking at the pick.

This is one of the reasons I have avoided committing to carbon arrows.

Specifically, I have not found a good way to remove fletching/vanes without damaging the structural integrity of the arrows. The only way I've found to avoid it is throught the use of arrow wraps.
