I was watching an ice fishing show and they were using jigging raps. They mention using the smallest ones for perch and pan fish. Its makes it easier for the fish to inhale the lure also use just a twiching motion, not a lot of jigging motion. I'm thinking bright colors for visual attraction.

out here on the inland lakes the perch will take a #3 rap in the blue/silver color tipped with a minnow head but they prefer a white horizontal jig such as a fat boy or jamminjigs bobber fry tipped with a waxworm, which is what i would personally use if i was targeting perch. pound the bottom with it and see if you can get any to rise up after it. i have seen them on the vex making very quick ascents up to 5' from the bottom chasing jigs. they either bite or race back down to the bottom, very cool to see. im sure a hungry perch would eat a wide variety of baits. i prefer to start with small baits. good luck!

cant wait for ice.

To bring perch in I like a small castmaster with the treble removed and 3" piece of mono attached with a small red horizontal jig tied on, tipped with some spikes. The castmaster provides lots of flash to draw in the perch. I would think that too shallow of water would be hard to work a jigging rap in.

I like a northland forage minnow, a williams wobbler, glow tear drops, jigging raps.

Try a Chubby Darter with a 3 in.dropper. They think the perch (chubby darter ) dropped a piece of food and they will hit the dropper. If you need a pic let me know.
