I am thinking about either taking my bow in or doing it myself, to have it completely stripped down to have everything oiled and put a new rest on and sights. OR buy a new bow? ABout how much would it be to have my bow redone?
My current bow is a PSE I believe a Maxis special edition which I bought about 10-11 years ago.
New Bows cost a lot, but woudl it be worth it and how much more will I gain from a new bow compared to my current one.

Briar Field, I guess it is up to you. If you can afford a new one get a new. If you can't then don't buy a new one. Being 10-12 years old if it still works and doing what you want it to do then have it tuned up. But if you think you need a new one then go ahead and buy new one.
first,
do you have a wife??

Yes. So a new bow would take some convincing but if it is cheaper in the long run to buy a new bow, maybe that will convince her ?????

I had a new rest, sights, peep sight and bought 6 new alum. arrows this year, it ran me about $90. I just got the basic's, the rest and sight's were about $25 a piece. Give ya a little idea on what you will spend. Of course, if you get top of the line stuff, it will cost more.

I told my wife I wanted a new bow and to my surprise she said "You bought a used bow and never really bought the accessories you wanted due to the price. So why don't you get a new one if you want, and I'll buy you whatever sight you want for christmas. You can even go ahead and buy the sight now.":yikes:

One word of advice is wait til around April being last years models will be cleared out by then. If you buy one now you are still paying a premium and you really don't have time to dial it in for this season at this point.

Well considering your bow is worth maybe $100 bucks with all the accesories, thats up to you. Depends on what you want. You probably need a new string and cables at best.....theres $75 to $100.
New rest, $50-$70
New site, $50-$150
String Loop $5
String Silencers $5
Maybe some Sims Limbsavors $25 (if you don't have these already, go buy em.....you'll think your shooting a new bow...well almost)
My as well upgrade your release as well $50-$75
Now, the accessories can all be moved to a new bow (not the string) at a later date if you want. (take the advice, if you buy, wait until after the season....I have seen great sales in January!)
Here's a hint: Don't go shoot a new bow unless you plan to buy a new bow...the new bows are really that nice.

That is FUNNY stuff:lol: but, absolutely correct. Make sure to be extra generous at Christmas or there will be trouble.

I guess the questions I would have would be if you redo your current bow how much will it increase you ability to take deer (if you hunt)? If you buy a new bow... how will this affect your ability to take deer (if you hunt)?
If you are doing good with your current set up and money is an issue... why change?
If you are not doing good with your current set up... answer the question first... Why are you not doing good with your current set up.
For example, maybe getting new cables and a string and havig your cams timed and paper tuning would be all you need to do?

With it being bow season with the rut going on (I assume you are hunting) I would say avoid the temptation to mix things up and finish the season with what you have. After the end of the season buy a new bow and get a screaming deal on a '06 bow. I paid $425 for my $600 '05 bow after the new bows came out.

to have it completely stripped down to have everything oiled there is NOTHING on a bow that needs to be oiled,a very very little bit of silicone on the axles maybe but no oil

Me personally, I'd be all over a new bow. Regardless of whether your bow is OK/adequeate or not. I LOVE buying me new stuff, and I find that I really appreciate it when I buy me new hunting goodies. But that's just me.
