The walleye bite on Hardy pond has started to pick up. I limited on Monday and Tuesday, both times in a hour and 30 minutes or less. I have been catching a few smallies and pike mixed in with the eyes also. The fish have been ranging in the 15-20 inch range with a few undersize fish mixed in with them.

Good Fishing

Ya right, you know everyone says Hardy sucks...................

BUT its about time for them to start. Even "other" lakes have been giving up a few.......mostly to selective fishermen.

Good job hunting them up, I know ya been looking..............

Yeah! This lake is a lot closer to home.

Was fishing Hardy last Thursday. Caught a 29" northern and a 21" smallmouth. I found out when I got home that the 21" smallmouth qualifies for a master angler award. I didn't keep it, though. I did take a picture of it. I always take my camara when I go fishing. I also went down below Croton Dam and caught a bluegill, rock bass, a small walleye, and a bunch of small rainbow trout. So for the day, I caught 6 species of fish (I like variety).

Regarding the comment that Hardy has lousy fishing, I have rarely caught sub-legal fish out of there. I have yet to catch any "monsters" with the exeption of a couple of 20" inch smallmouths, but again, most all the fish are legal size. I don't catch a lot because I don't have a boat, so I have to wait for the fish to come to me. I like that, though. I consider myself to be a lazy fisherman. I just stick a couple of pole holders in the ground, sit in my chair, eat, drink (soft drinks), read, do crossword puzzles, and wait for one of my bells to ring (I clip a bell near the top of each pole so I don't have to watch them).

Well, that's my report.

How did you catch them trolling, jigging or casting?
I dont think thats to much information. You still need to find the fish and have the skills to pull it off.

I caught them all trolling with minnow raps and x-raps. Slow was the key.
I haven't spent much time out there jigging yet. I do usually do pertty good jigging to.
Yes, there is some real nice smallmouth in there also. I got one out of there 2 weeks ago 22" along with 2 other fish that day over 20".

Same thing I am assuming. I might hit Hardy in the morning after I get out of work if the winds isn't blowing to bad.

Nice job Tim.

Robert has been taking lessons on the Freek from some guy with a Phantom of The Opera mask.

Freakin deer are driving me nuts!!! Havn't been able to get the shot I want. So, I still have not had the boat out. Have seen 3 bobcats in the last two evenings!! Two were under the stand for almost 2 hours!

MAybe this weekend I'll have to get the boat out.

Seeing the Bobcat is worth it all though.
I guess thats why I give up bow hunting along time ago.
1) I love to bird hunt.
2) Fishing is what I love to do best!
Good luck on the deer and maybe the walleye gods will be kind to you when you do get out.

I Hit Hardy last Sunday. Wind was a real beeoooooooooootch below Big Bend.

I caught 6 eyes alll 12-14 3/4" jigging channel edges.

Landed two Dandy Smallies, both were in the 4-5 lb. range trolling TDD-9s.
There is another with a TDD-9 still in his face still lurking the waters. The lip of the lure ripped out of the body at the edge of the boat. I was a bit upset with that.

I suppose he will go back to his school and look cool. It's all the fade now days.

If you catch Hardy at the right time those eyes will school up and you can have a fields day. My best day was 25 walleye ( only because we stopped fishing ) in 4 1/2 hours. With 17 being legal size. My friends best day was 45 eyes with only one sub-legal in the bunch.

It's not bad if you get it right.

The coves are full of minnows and the wallye aren't far away. Depending on what time of the day your fishing as how deep to look. Trolling, jigging or bait fishing are all producing.
