Problem my heater uses the small propane bottles but they only last about 2.5-3 hours.I have been wanting to convert it over to where it uses the larger bottles similar to 25lb cylinders i believe they are.I hase seen smaller ones like somewhere around 10-15lb which be idealistic for me since it the larger ones are quite heavy on my weak back for dragging around.Anybody know where I can find one of these smaller bottles at?Thanks Aaron

Gander Mountain has the 5# tanks They work great. Have you ever thought about filling your own small tanks ?

You can get 5# and 10# tanks. But they ain't cheap! Here's a link to an online source. But you may even check with local welding supply shops. They may have them or can get them.

I have also been looking around online at some higher effencient heaters. They only put out 3000 btu`s last about 7-8 hours on 16oz bottle of fuel compared to my 10,000-12,000 which burns 2.5 hours on low @ 2.5 hours on a bottle 160z`s @ $2.25 a bottle:yikes:

catalytic heaters? i have one, the procat. i think they are nice. they burn cleaner. i dont get dizzy as with a regular heater. it takes a while to burn a 1lb. bottle of propane. i think it takes about 6 or 7 hours to burn through a bottle. 3000 btu

on the downside, its not much heat coming off of them, on a real cold windy day inside my one-man, its still chilly inside. good enough for me though.

He's referring to those adapters you can buy that allow you to refill your one pound bottles from a twenty pound tank. If you do a search for "refilling propane tanks" here on the site you'll find LOTS of talk about it. Do the search and decide for yourself. I personally won't do it. It's not worth the risk. But that's just my opinion, I know others disagree.

I purchased an 11# tank from Gander a few years back and with the tank & the fitting, it ran about $33.00 and costs about 6.00 to fill. That is the same as buying 17 1# tanks. Tank fits right into a milk crate that I can use on the boat to keep the hands warm and does not tip.

Your local propane dealer will have them.

I use an 11lb'er, put it in a square cat liter bucket. It fits perfectly and doesn't tip over, and the bucket handle makes it handy and comfortable to carry too. Hose to heater/cooker or directly attached. Depends.

:bouncy: :bouncy: Last year I bought a 5# tank at Menards for $30, Gander Mountain's were around $40 or $50, lowes has 4' hoses for a little pricy $30 for the Mr. Heater brand.

I have used a 11lb. tank for years. Gander sells them. They might not be on the shelves yet but call and ask, they might have some in back or know when they are coming in.

If you have problems with your tank flipping over, try a Tanksetter they work great. Get them at www.tanksetter.com (http://www.tanksetter.com) and it is a Michigan company.
