Ok, I just got done watching Jeremiah Johnson. He was making buscuits out in the wilderness...... Every recipe I've found calls for milk and shortening,,,, I doubt that he had either one!

If I was in a "Jeremiah Johnson" situation, how would I make them?????????

Any ideas or recipes would be greatly appreciated!

Sour dough. I don't have a recipe though.

IFN,

The biscuits that Jeremiah made were probably not the ones that you want to make today. They were likely more like a flat bread.

For shortening he might have used bear fat or some other rendered wild animal fat. For milk he probably used water.

Interesting question. Some time ago I posted a recipe for Irish Soda Bread. It is a bread that was made over 500 years ago in Ireland. That (or some variationd) might work for a biscuit recipe.

I'll see what I can find.

Nut',

Try using a baking mix like Jiffy or Bisquick. No shortning needed. It is already in the mix. For milk, just take some powdered milk along with you. Just add water and fire and your eatn' biscuits.
