View Full Version : Venison Donations....
has anyone ever donated venison to a homeless shelter or any other type of agency. I have private property doe permit but don't really plan on using this since I was fortunate enough to get a buck last week and will have enough venison for the freezer. Thanks.

You can go to www.sportsmenagainsthunger.org (http://www.sportsmenagainsthunger.org) look for processors tab on the left side to find one nearest you. Most shelters that I know of will not accept wild game unless its through one of these processors.

I use Cushmans, a processor that is 6 miles west of Fremont. They take venison for the Newaygo food bank. They do not charge a penny for any deer donated for the food bank. I usually donate one deer a year if I'm lucky enough to get 2. Just kind of my way of helping the needy. They have been doing this for quite a few years. I believe they donated over 500 lbs last year to the food bank. Kind of neat.

This is a great organization and does a lot to help improve the image of hunting and hunters. I recommend donating if you can.
