What is the warmest boot for sitting for hours? Not concerned about walking comfort, just warmth when sitting for hours in the elements.

Heavy boot - bulky boot - would be hard to use while climbing a tree - but, if you can get around all that stuff and safely find yourself up and down your tree stand (if you're in a tree, that is) the Mickey Mouse Boots can't be beat!

I have the Lacrosse Extreme pft sold at Cabelas. They are rated for -150 and You will never have a problem. First put on a liner sock, then a wool Ultramax sock and you are ready for anything. You will get cold hands, face, or body before you get cold feet. 160 bucks, but worth it.

On some late season hunts, the guys I hunt with complained about cold feet, mine were toasty. I use Sorels for November, Lacrosse for December.
Last year on a December hunt in Canada, I sat for almost 10 hours before I shot a buck, never had a problem.( I do need a better suit, though)

One important thing (you probably know already) is never use cotton.

My feet get cold very easily when sitting. Deer hunting, icefishing, etc.

I have a pair of Rangers that I bought from Jay's a couple years ago for only 60 bucks. They're rated to - 130. They have served for icefishing, cold weather deer hunting, and for launching the boat. They been fantastic, gotten a ton of use, and aren't any uglier than when I pulled them out of the box. Last year I icefished on Bay De Noc in 7 inches of slush water and my feet were warm and dry. Surprisingly, they're not that bad to walk in. Even climb up pegs to the treestand with no problem.

For the money, Mickey Mouse boots can't be beat. They are not that heavy like some others have said. I guess the ones who say that need to spend some time in the gym strengthening those legs or something . Anyhow, I have fallen in knee deep while ice fishing and the water was cold as heck initially, but after a bit it warmed right up and I spent the entire day fishing with no problems whatsoever. I doubt you would have those kind of results with any other boots on the market. You only need a paid of regular socks too, no need for heavy wool ones. Give them a try and you won't be sorry.

Well I decided to give the Mickeys a try. I really don't know how I can go wrong with this as I bought them from A-Z Military Surplus on EBay for...you ready...$9.95 plus shipping. I did my due diligence and these are the real GI issued Mickey's which were listed without a reserve and I got lucky I guess;) No more cold fet I hope

I had heard that since they don't breathe, your feet end up wet from sweat. Is that true? If so, I don't see how they could be all that comfortable. If anyone can persuade me otherwise, the price looks hard to beat: I need a new pair of boots before the season.
Thanks,
Dave

1. They are not for any walking. This is for sitting for hours in a deer blind or staring at a hole in the water.
2. Your feet will sweat I am told, but not get cold.
Best prices were on EBay at a store called A-Z Military Surplus.
Search "GI Bata Mickey Mouse Boots" on Ebay and look at the stores listed on lower left column

Mickey's are great, I have a pair myself.
One other thing to think of is IceBreakers. Cabelas makes them, they are not for walking, but you zip them over your boots when you get to wear you are going. they are rated to -100 at least. very warm. I ruptured my achilles tendon a few years ago and was wearing a walking boot. I bought a pair and slipped them over the boot for gun season. worked great, even shot a buck.
