Currently I only practice with my field tips. I did practiced with my broad heads before the season opened. Since then I have changed out all of the blades. I shoot at least twenty times every other night. When practicing with your broad heads, do you guys only use one arrow a round? I shoot three arrows a round. Recently I have improved my groupings. The bad part is that I group them tight enough, some times, to tear the fletching. This happens once every twenty shoots or so. I have been fixing the tears with scotch tape. I haven't found any ill effects from the cheap repairs made. I shoot Carbon Express Lite. Would I be better off changing arrow brands? Or is this just part of the added expense of archery?

Shoot spots instead....it's a lot cheaper in the long run.

Are you saying to use the side of the block with the five targets? Then choose a different one for every shot?

Yes...exactly.

When your shooting spots just dont do what I do. I always forget which ones I shot at. I ruined 2 arrows this year doing that at 40 yards. Since at 30 and 40 i cant see which ones they are in. DOH! :)
Another thing to consider is find the 3-4 best arrows in your group that shoot the best. Number them and keep track of the ones that are always right on. Set these up with broadheads and pratice a few times with them to make sure they shoot broadheads good too. Then set them aside keeping them near new for hunting. But still practice with broadheads set up with other arrows. With carbons I find the straighter shafts of the group usually shoot the best. Go to your local pro shop they should have a device to tell you how straight they are and mark the straighter ones and hunt with these. While there use the other thing that tells if your broadheads wobble or not to make sure your arrows are tuned properly.
No I don't shoot for groups when practicing with my broadheads. Shooting for groups is something I do when I'm trying to tune my bow...ie...when or after I've made any kind of adjustments. Or if I picked up some new arrows or something like that. No need for any of that now. Unless God forbid I should somehow damage something and have to do a complete set up.
My practice now and likely for the remainder of the season will consist of shooting what I hunt with and making one shot from every concievable position, angle, and distance that I can think of at the moment. Now my practice is all about keeping myself in tune and to reinforce/keep up my confidence. As well as to varify nothing has happend to my equipment.
Now it's all about one arrow and one arrow only. If you can't hit the mark with the very first arrow you release, even if you can shoot the next twenty and put them all in the bullseye, you may as well stay home.

Needs to be emphasized, make your first shot the money shot.. have all your real gear on, shoot at the most realistic range and elevation if possible. I only wish I could simulate being really cold.
