Wondering if the Walleye bite is picking up yet with the colder temps in Muskegon lake? Should be getting close to when the whitefish come in too isn't it?

I took my son out last night for 3 hours and didn't get a single hit. Water temp was 49 deg.
The better fishing should be here in about 2 weeks.
Here's one from last year.

hey guys--
how do you fish for whitefish when they come in on soft water?

Jigging with swedish pimples in the channel (though the snag to fair ratio is often 10:1).
Fished Muskegon Sat. Morning 02:00am - 09:00am had 2 walleye, both males 4 - 6 lbs. should get better as the water cools down. 1 fish on #12 husky black and gold, 1 rattlin rouge, (clown). 1 casting, 1 trolling. Covered the whole lake didn't mark a lot of fish. Only one other boat out, they left shortly after I started.

Thanks for these reports. I hope to start learning Muskegon Lake soon. What ramps do you guys use when putting the boat in for night fishing?

thank you, that was a great post. However, if I arrive in the wee hours, will I be able to pay/launch? (like the self-serve setup at the Municipal Park launch on White Lake..)
I've Google Earth'd my way around the lake and found the ramps you've mentioned.

I do believe all the launches have the self service envelope just gapping for your ten bucks.
