ive tried mono for a few years, last 2 years i used vanish 2 lb. which i liked. thinking about trying p-line floroice this year. wondering if anyone tried it and what you thought. also wondering what everyone's favorite panfishing line is. perch, gills, crappie....need something a tad stronger maybe for the giant crappie.:) always checking drag and knots but still had a couple brute crappies break me and those are the ones you really want to see!

don't know how it would hold up on a reel, but I use 6 lb. floroice for my leaders for winter steelheading. it is really soft in the colder temps., knot strength is an issue, so I check them very well when i tie on. If they don't grab I retie. Its actually held up to some brutes, I've been impressed with the line.

for perch i like 10 pound stren or even a braid the line doesnt spook em and if u hook a walleye or pike or stealhead u still have a shot at it theres too few crappies or gills here to worry about

Dunno. My perch/panfish reels are all loaded with 1 lb. ice line. Never broke one off yet. 4 lb walleye and 3 lb trout have been caught on that line without a problem. I personally never use more than 2 lb test on the ice on my panfish rod/reels.

I use 2 lb. test yellow stren for panfish and 6 lb. test yellow stren for walleyes. I want to see that line move!!

For 'gills, I've got 2 longer "noodle" rods I spool up with 1# clear mono I use alot on shallower lakes where I don't really need spinning reels. On my rods with spinning reels I use the 2# vanish, also. Worked well.
For Wally I like the 6# P-Line Fluoroclear, worked well, but didn't get alot of time on it last year for a true test. Bought a spool of 4# P-Line Fluoroice on sale but haven't spooled it up yet.

if you could happen to find a place to do that you're prolly better off buying a vexlar or trying to find another one off ebay!!!

HFL, sent you an e-mail about your Lowrance Fish Lo-K-Tor! ;)
As far the fishing line goes, I've never been a believer in "floro" lines, had to many knot and brake off issues. The guy's I fish with that use it dont usually catch anymore fish than I do. :D
I've got my light weight/noodle rods for gills rigged up with 2 and 4 pound P-Line CXX Extra Strong line. My crappie/walleye rods have 6 pound "Cajun Line" on them. ;) Have done some late night, deep water crappie fishing and it works great! Easy to see that red line on the ice/snow! Perch? What a perch?
I did see some yellow P-Line CXX in #8 at BPS my last time there, might try pick up some if they can get any in 2, 4 or even 6 pound test. ;)

I had about four at one time off of ebay. I used one for parts to make three work.

PS you have to wet your line before cinching the knot ( aka saliva ), the manufacture says the will reduce the friction that damages the line and reduces knot strength.
