Wow.... with a few frosts under our belts and the lakes turning over the fish are starting to chow big time to put some winter fat on. I had a group out yesterday and we caught Walleye, Smallmouth, Largemouth and a beauti Musky. Here is a pic of Lunge before it was released.... a real nice looking healthy fish for sure:

A number of the Walleye are in transition right now and I'm starting to find fish in deep hard bottom areas(40-50 ft) adjacent to larger feeding shelves or humps. Working these fish vertically jigging with small 1/4oz flash spoons in blue/silver and firetiger work great as does a good'ol hook and minnow. Tipping one of the treble hooks with a small piece of worm or the tail piece of a minnow greatly increases the amount a strikes and will but more fish in the boat. The other option is to look for some remaining deep weed flats that are still green and healthy.... we fished a number of these yesterday and found one that was real healthy.... it was loaded with fish.... bucktail jigs, twisters and grubs in white, black and smoke all caught fish. With the sunny bright skies yesterday working real slow and maintaining contact with the bottom and casting out into the deeper weed clumps was key. Here is a pic of aawesome Kawartha fall Walleye caught last week on a different trip.... the fish was a prime breeder and quickly released after the pic:

Get out there and enjoy some of the best fishing of the season... remember to be safe out there...the water temps are cold so don't take any chances with the weather.
Take care and Good Fish'n.... Greg.
