I'm looking at getting my 1st dash mount GPS. Theres alot of models out there, but most stores don't have working displays to play with.
I'm looking to stay on the lower end of the price range for my 1st one.
Can anyone suggest any models and why???
I figure the more way points I can get for the money the better? 2 million vs 5 million etc.
Thanks

I have an LMS332c Lowrance and a Humminbird 787c2 and love them both - they are GPS/Sonar combos and Gander has BOTH on display , each has the ability to back up your WPs and use mapping cards.
I have the HotMapsUSA and it rocks for fishin'.....
:D
You can download the emulators for Lowrance products IF you wanna play with 'em.
I also think Staples has the iWay 500c on demo....

P.S. - WHY??
USER FRIENDLY!!

I picked up a Magellan FX324 from West Marine a few years back for about $350. It was on clearance at the time and they sent a flyer around so I jumped at it. It's been a great unit so far for the $$. Some times I think that thing'll thread a needle...If you look hard you may find such a deal. :D

I'm talking about one for the car dash.. I was looking at the new larwance unit, but for $700 I'll hold off. I wanted to get a model for the car/ truck.

The iWay 250c is a bit smaller , less feature laden and YES cheaper too.

I'd spend the extra - but I know that you get what you pay for , and cheaper isn't necessarily better.
I (myself) only want to do 'this' once....

When I bought my GPS I tried and returned 3 different models/brands from Gander Mountain. They had a 30 day return policy on their electronics. I'd use one for a couple weeks and see what my likes and dislikes were before I settled on the unit I wanted.
